The U.S. Thunderbirds and guests will perform Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There are two ways to watch the show, from a boat in Zach's Bay or at one of the parking fields at Jones Beach.

Admission to the beach is free but parking is $10 and paid at the fields. There is no toll.

There is also a VIP experience. Tickets for the Jones Beach Chalet allow guests to view the air show from a private beachfront area and enjoy Continental breakfast, lunch and beverages.

Jones Beach officials advise visitors to the air show to arrive early, before 8 a.m. if possible.

In the past, the show has been seen by more than 200,000 people who fill up the beach on a single day.

It is not unusual that parking fields fill up by 8 a.m. or sooner. When this happens, the parkways are closed and cars are turned away.

Bring/tips:

  • While it is OK to bring bags, backpacks, and coolers to the beach, they will be searched.
  • There is a fast-food style restaurant at the east end of the beach and refreshment vendors will be located along the boardwalk.
  • There will be no bleachers or seating of any sort (with the exception of the VIP Chalets that require a separate entry fee purchased before the show), so bring a blanket to sit on, or a foldable chair.
  • Earplugs or earmuffs are suggested for younger viewers -earmuffs are preferred because of the choking hazard. The jets can get loud.
  • Photography is always fun at an air show, but there are several things to keep in mind, and you should know the limits of your camera.
  • Even though the planes will be close, they will still be far enough away that you will need a decent amount of zoom. The beach faces South, directly into the sun, so most everything will be backlit all day.
  • Kites are prohibited because they distract the performers.
  • No pets will be allowed except for animals that aid those with handicaps.

Boaters:

For those with boats, the show can be viewed from Zach's Bay or from the ocean. However, there are restrictions as to where in the ocean the show can be watched.
